The first map creation process we shall look at is Digimap classic. To select the area you wish to map, there are three options: 1.Click on the map on the right of the screen. 2. Enter a place name in the box. 3. Enter a postcode in the box, remember to use the complete postcode.

Digimap classic will appear in the next window, on this page you can: Produce a map by clicking on the icon of any of the six preset scales indicated above the map. The next slide shows the least detailed view, followed by the other five available scales. DistrictLocal Regional NeighbourhoodStreet Detailed

Digimap provides an onsite storage facility called a map chest, this allows the user to store their maps for up to 5 days. You can name the map and store it by clicking on the icon at the bottom of the page. The map can be recalled for further editing, and then can be printed in black and white or colour from the print option on the menu bar at the top of the screen. Maps can also be generated from the map chest as EPS or PDF files and downloaded to your computer for printing and further editing. Three of the scales are vector data i.e. editable, you can deselect items to be included on your map by clicking and removing the tick in the box in the column to the left of the screen. These are the Regional, District and Detailed scales. The Local, Neighbourhood and Street scales are raster data and are not able to be edited for content. You can still change the area coverage by clicking on the directional arrows at the side of the map.
