Easter Day at 9.30am on 12 th April 2009 Welcome to St Nicolas Anglican Church

The day of resurrection! earth, tell it out abroad; the passover of gladness, the passover of God: from death to life eternal, from earth up to the sky, our Christ has brought us over with hymns of victory.

Our hearts be pure from evil that we may see aright the Lord in rays eternal of resurrection light; and listening to his greeting may hear, so calm and strong, his own ‘All hail’ and, hearing, may raise the victors’ song.

Now let the heavens be joyful and earth her song repeat, the whole world shout in triumph her living Lord to greet; let all things seen and unseen their notes of gladness blend, for Christ the Lord has risen, our joy that has no end.

The Lord be with you And also with you Alleluia! Christ is risen He is risen indeed. Alleluia!

We are marching in the light of God……

We are living in the love of God………….

We are moving in the power of God……………….

Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit that we may perfectly love You, and worthily magnify Your holy name, through Christ our Lord. Amen

Lord Jesus, You came to reconcile us to one another and to the Father: Lord have mercy Lord Jesus, You heal the wounds of sin and division: Christ have mercy

Lord Jesus, You bring light to those in darkness and life to the dead: Lord have mercy Absolution

Baptismal Vows All the baptised to re-affirm their baptism: Do you turn to Christ? I turn to Christ Do you repent of your sins? I repent of my sins Do you reject selfish living and all that is false and unjust? I renounce them all Do you renounce Satan and all evil? I renounce all that is evil.

Presentation & Promises by parents & God-parents

Baptismal Vows Those presenting children for baptism: Do you turn to Christ? I turn to Christ Do you repent of your sins? I repent of my sins Do you reject selfish living and all that is false and unjust? I renounce them all Do you renounce Satan and all evil? I renounce all that is evil.

The Creed Do you believe in God the Father? I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

Do you believe in God the Son? I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose from; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit? I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

This is the faith of the Church. This is our faith: we believe in one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Take this water and please bless it Lord, take this water and please bless it Lord; flowing gently on their head, symbol that you once were dead but live again. Baptism Song

Celebrate the dying unto sin, rising up, a new life to begin, cleansed and purified before the Lord, his child now, no longer on your own; now his Holy Spirit in you sown, seeds of truth to spread abroad.

Take this person and please bless him, Lord, take this person and please bless her, Lord; help them grow into the one image of your holy Son, in likeness.

Celebrate the dying unto sin, rising up, a new life to begin, cleansed and purified before the Lord, his child now, no longer on your own; now his Holy Spirit in you sown, seeds of truth to spread abroad.

Take this people and please bless us, Lord, take this people and please bless us, Lord; make our witness strong and true, always faithful unto you, our Father.

Celebrate the dying unto sin, rising up, a new life to begin, cleansed and purified before the Lord, his child now, no longer on your own; now his Holy Spirit in you sown, seeds of truth to spread abroad.

The Baptism

The Anointing N, I sign you with the sign of the cross to show that you are marked as Christ’s own for ever. Live as a disciple of Christ Confess the faith of Christ crucified proclaim the resurrection, and look for his coming again.

The Giving of Easter Light God has brought you out of darkness into marvellous light. Shine as a light in the world to the glory of God the Father.

The Welcome God has called you into Christ’s church. We therefore receive and welcome you. Together we are children of the one heavenly father, and inheritors of the kingdom of God.

The Peace The peace of the risen Lord be always with you. And also with you.

Now the green blade rises from the buried grain, wheat that in the dark earth many days has lain: love lives again, that with the dead has been: Love has come again, like wheat that springs up green.

In the grave they laid him, Love whom hate had slain, thinking that he never would awake again, laid in the earth, like grain that sleeps unseen. Love has come again, like wheat that springs up green.

Up he sprang at Easter, like the risen grain, he who for the three days in the grave had lain, raised from the dead my living Lord is seen: Love has come again, like wheat that springs up green.

When our hearts are wintry, grieving, or in pain, then your touch can call us back to life again – fields of our hearts that dead and bare have been: Love has come again, like wheat that springs up green. © Words: Permission Oxford University Press Music: John MacLeod Campbell Crum 1872 – 1958 alt

Our Father in heaven hallowed be Your name Your kingdom come Your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us, Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are Yours now and forever. Amen

Thine be the glory, risen conquering Son, endless is the victory thou o’er death has won; angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away, kept the folded grave-clothes, where thy body lay. Thine be the glory risen conquering Son, endless is the victory thou o’er death has won

Lo, Jesus meets us risen from the tomb; lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom; let the church with gladness hymns of triumph sing, for her Lord is living, death has lost its sting. Thine be the glory risen conquering Son, endless is the victory thou o’er death has won

No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life; life is nought without thee: aid us in our strife; make us more than conquerors, through thy deathless love: bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above. Thine be the glory risen conquering Son, endless is the victory thou o’er death has won © Words: Permission the World Student Christian Federation Music: Edmond Louis Budry 1854 – 1932 tr.
