2 Current People who do not have a job. People who have been Fired or laid off. The government supply these people with a % of their earnings.

3 Unemployment can cause more Taxes on people. Increase in the prices of daily needs. Makes life harder for those who are working.

4 The Country’s economic distress The War on Terror Welfare is said to contribute to long term unemployment. Unemployment insurance does this too.

5 People take advantage of the checks they receive. Claim to be looking for work and don’t. People easily file for an insurance extension. Welfare is many times abused.

6 Welfare gives people the and incentive to avoid work or work less. Many families use this as a mayor income for support. It gives $ instead of showing how to make it.

7 Students must plan ahead for careers based on availability More student join the military to avoid unemployment. Even with a Degree work can be hard to find

8 Businesses laid people off to cut budgets and stay open. Teachers, and Police officers, were only some affected. This affects education and the safety of society.

9 Individual, social, educational and economic effects Have been connected to areas with Higher crime rates. Give people an excuse to not work.

13 Unemployment rate in MA is 9.4%. It has risen 1.6% in 2009 from U.S. jobless rate went up 3.5% to 9.3%. National employment population ratio fell 2.9 points to 59.3 points.

14 In 2009 all region had a decrease in employment population ratio. West -3.3, Mid-West -3.1, South -2.7 North-East -2.2

15 14 states and District of Columbia reported a unemployment rate of more then 10.0%. Michigan (+5.3%) and Nevada (+5.1%) had highest unemployment rate jumps in 2009.

16 Northeast Average Unemployment rate is 8.4%. The West had the greatest jump from 2008 to 2009.
