Monroe Community College 3 What is Banner? An upgrade to FRS, HRS, SIS and ADS SCT Banner includes the following modules: –Finance –Human Resources –Advancement (Alumni/Development) –Student –Financial Aid An integrated, database-driven information system (Oracle)

Monroe Community College 4 What is Banner? Banner is a web application –Available 24/7 via a web browser for access by students, faculty and staff –Point and click (GUI) interface –Uses SQL (structured query language) –Reporting software enhancement is BRIO –Provides more functionality for end users

Monroe Community College 5 What is Banner? All data reside in one database –Information shared among all applications –Will use generated IDs with SSN as a searchable alternate ID Pushes functionality out of the IT area Individuals can customize their views of Banner
