LHCb VELO Upgrade Medipix/Timepix PR01 Testbeam 6 pixel telescope planes angled in 2 dimensions to optimise resolution PR01 Fine pitch strip detector with fast electronics readout (Beetle) Device Under Test moved and rotated via remote controlled stepper motor

150 um thin sensor Clustersizes as a function of angle bending plane non bending plane angle (degrees)

Cluster TOT values thin sensor telescope planes

Resolution – thin sensor perpendicular Telescope planes ~ 4 um as expected Thin sensor ~15 um

Resolution: 20 degree angle Thin sensor ~7.5 um (possibility of small improvement with alignment) This number was ~5.2 um for thick sensor, at optimum angle of 9 degrees Note that there is a contribution of about 2.2 um from the telescope
