Classification Definition: Classification is the process of grouping things according to similarities and differences (ex. colour, age, size) Sorting things into groups helps put order into our lives. The categories that are made and the groups that belong in them reflect patterns in the world around us. Why is it important that biologists find a way to classify Earth’s millions of species?

Classification Systems & Taxonomy Definition: classification systems are organized structures for arranging and classifying The purpose of a classification system is to allow the accurate identification of a particular organism, no matter where it exists.

Taxonomy Definition: Taxonomy is the science of classifying organisms
