The Format

The Format Take notes IN YOUR OWN WORDS!!! If your notes aren’t plagiarized, your essay won’t be plagiarized. If you copy/paste onto the outline, you may not remember to change the wording in your essay You do NOT have to take notes in complete sentences. This also helps avoid plagiarism. If you make complete sentences later, they won’t be copied from the website.

Organization If you decide to change the order of details, renumber them on the outline. Write the source name and page # next to each detail for easy in-text citations. On webpages that are NOT divided into pages, you only need the source name.

How NOT to Take Notes All stacked on top of each other on notebook paper (unorganized/unorganizable). Without regard for which source and which page the info came from (make in-text citations impossible). Go straight to the essay (danger of plagiarism and disorganized writing is high).
