We look forward to having our students and teachers in the building again. It has been an extremely busy summer with construction in full swing. We are hoping to move into phase one our new building by Thanksgiving! I hope you have had a fun yet restful summer break with family and friends. My daughter and I spent our vacation in Florida with family. We had an amazing time! This year based on parent request we are looking to provide a weekly update. Hopefully making the information we provide relevant and timely. We will continue to share required monthly forms and memos from the Board of Education. Another useful resource is Blackboard. The user name is: croftonms and the password is: eagles. Just log-on to AACPS.org, click the student tab and choose blackboard. Blackboard allows teachers to communicate with students and parents about homework and provide dates for tests and projects. Over the summer as administration attended conferences and professional developments regarding the PARCC assessment we heard the word “perseverance” over and over again. This is what our students will need to tackle the rigor and challenges that Common Core will bring. Therefore, this school year we would like to support our students by NOT allowing them to “opt out”. When they do not know an answer or when things get difficult we are going to support them by teaching them how to find the correct answer or solution. We do not give up at Crofton Middle instead we S.O.A.R to success! Students who are organized and take action to reach their goals! Understanding that there may be many questions pertaining to Common Core, I thought to share a website, Achievethecore.com. It is user friendly and has plenty of information and resources from the parent perspective. Lastly, if you have a twitter account you may follow Crofton Middle school at: Please review the information for important events, dates and times.
