Create a Living Map 1.The classroom represents Nigeria. The closet door symbolizes the Niger River delta. The trashcan represents pollution. The boxes represents the resources(oil) 2.You all will be divided into the three main ethnic groups of Nigeria (Hausa-Fulani, Igbo, & Yoruba). 3.Go to the part of the room that represents where your ethnic group primarily lives. 4.As a class we will discuss how the distribution of people resources and pollution could lead to conflict. Questions to Guide the Discussion How might conflict start over the distribution of people? What issues may arise regarding the distribution of resources amongst the different ethnic groups? Who is closer to the resources? Who is furthest from the resources? If you are closer to the resources what else might you be closer to that you wouldn’t want to be close to? How will pollution effect all of the ethnic groups? How might pollution lead to conflict amongst the group? What group may be most affected by pollution? Explain. How do you think your ethnic group will be affected?
