Coffee break talk -- 10G Ethernet switch performance measurement --

Background WIDE 10Gbps backbone setup-ed at 10GbE equipments early phase. (2002) January 17th, Jun want to have a keynote speech remotely with uncompressed HD. A few days before the event, we tested the uncompressed HD streaming over the WIDE 10G backbone. Test was failed !

Measuring method Using Netperf( Measure from remote PC via SNMP senderreceiver switch 10G-LR Measuring PC

Measuring environment Switches –Foundry BI 4000 –Hitachi GS-4000 Sender –Linux smp –Intel Xeon 2.80 GHz *2 –Intel Pro 10GbE Receiver –NetBSD –Intel Xeon 1.80 GHz * 2 –Intel Pro 10GbE

Future Plan Change to new 10GbE equipments at July (planning, for operational, not research!) Need tools for checking network health/ability with any parameters such as bandwidth(pps, bps), latency, MTU, so on.
