UCCSC 2014: Lean Coffee Agile framework for spontaneous discussion/collaboration

What is Lean Coffee? – Structured but agenda-less meeting Why Lean Coffee? – Create productive facilitated meetings

Steps: 1.Create Kan Ban Board 2.Generate Topics 3.Dot Vote 4.Discuss 5.Vote 6.Repeat. Go back to #4

1. Create a Kanban Board (2 min) Label 3 post-its: – Discuss – Discussing – Discussed

2. Generate Topics (5 min) Write down 1 discussion idea per post-it Introduce the topic and yourself

3. Dot Vote! (5 min) Each person gets 2 votes marked on the post- it topic. Can vote twice for 1 idea or 2 different ideas. Rank the votes highest to lowest

4. Discuss (8 min) Set timer 8 min Move first topic under Discussing column Start timer and Discuss

5. Vote: Move on to next topic? (majority rules) Thumbs up! – Yes, I’m done talking Neutral – Either way Thumbs down! – Need 4 more min
