Weather Forecast Long term rainfall forecast shows 90% of normal rainfall (Model error ± 8%). During 4 months (June to September) West MP may receive 788.4 mm rainfall (9 cm less from normal). During 4 months (June to September) East MP may receive 946.0 mm rainfall (11 cm less from normal). Deterministic precipitation forecast model showing Normal rainfall in both weather sub-divisions. Monsoon reached extreme southern part by 19 June and will covered whole state by 26 June.

Impact of Contingency Plans 2014 Farmers were advised to grow paddy through SRI method. Soybean replaced with maize and urd. Early maturing varieties were promoted. Arhar on field bunds and intercropping in Arhar were popularized which result increased area under Arhar. Paddy area increased specially Basmati rice. Traditionally maize cultivar was replaced with Hybrids resulted increased production. Sweet corn and Baby corn were also promoted. Line sowing of urd, soybean, maize etc by raised bed/ ridge furrow method resulted increase in production. 20.45 Lakh MT Production increased over kharif 2013.

Contingency Plan- Strategies Agro-climatic zone wise contingency plan formulated. Prepared District wise contingency plan. Formed a State and District level control room to facilitate farmers regarding input availability, crop status and their other queries related to crops. District level Diagnostic Team is formed. This team (Scientist from KVKs and Departmental officers) will make visit the farmers field and provide advisories. Under RKVY for seed arrangement in adverse monsoon condition about Rs 50 crore is provisioned.

Contingency Plan- Strategies National Insurance scheme will be operated effectively. Adequate arrangement of early maturing variety seeds. Available water in irrigation tanks would be utilized after district level WUAs concern. Extensive Extension campaign will be started to mobilize the farmers to adopt water management & water conservation practices. It is proposed collect remote sensing data regarding village, tehsil and district sowing area crop wise. Provide SMS based information regarding weather and advisory.

Contingency Plan- Strategies Additional seed availability for SC/ST Farmers- Annapurna scheme - Improved and Hybrid Seed of Foodgrains provided with 75% subsidy to small and marginal Farmers of SC/ST. For the year 2015-16 Rs.42.56 crore is provisioned. Which is Rs.14.03 crore higher from last year Expenditure. Surajdhara scheme- Improved Seed of Oilseeds and Pulses provided with 75% subsidy to small and marginal Farmers of SC/ST. For the year 2015-16 Rs.39.33 crore is provisioned. Which is Rs.13 crore higher from last year Expenditure.

Use early Arhar variety i.e. TJT501, ICPL 87 & intercrop with mung, soybean. Cultivation of soybean in raised bed. Seed treatment with fungicide & bio-fertilizers Use drip in sugarcane with organic mulching.

Intercropping of arhar with Til and Niger Suggestion to take optional crop like mung, urad. 6- Gird Region% ¼Gwalior, Bhimd, Sheopur, Shivpuri (except Pichhor, Karera, Narwar, Khaniyadhana), Guna (partly) Use hybrid sorghum varieties JKBH 26, BIO 448, 86M86 Use sesame var. TKG 22, GT 7, TKG 55. Intercrop Jowar and soybean,urad, mung, sorghum. Promote early maturing Jowar var. CSH 17.

TKG 306, GT 1, GT 7. Intercrop Jowar and soybean,urad, mung, sorghum. Use of Organic manures and maintain proper Drainage 8- Satpuda plateau% ¼Betul, Chhindwada) Grow hybrid maize i.e. KMH 3426, NMH 803, NMH 731, P 3441 etc. Advise to cultivate baby corn. Promoting Niger variety i.e. JNS-9, JNC-1, JNC 6. Intercrop Maize with Urad, mung, soybean. Promote early maturing Jowar var. CSH 17.

Agroclimatic Zone wise Preparations 9- Malwa plateau% ¼Mansaur, Neemuch, Ratlam, Ujjain, Dewas, Indore, Shajapur, Agar, Rajgarh, Dhar (partly), Jhabua (partly)½ Use early soybean variety. i.e. JS 9560, JS 9305 etc. Cultivation of Soybean in raised bed or Broad bed. Use early maize variety instead of traditional. Construct small bunds at every 15-20 crop rows. 10- Nimar Plains% ¼khandwa, Khargone, Harda, Dhar (partly)) Use of early cotton varieties. Advise to operate dora at 20 and 40 DAS in cotton. Intercrop cotton with Maize. Use early groundnut varieties GG 7, TG 26, GG 20 etc. Use sprinkler, Drip in Chilli and other Horticultural crops

Points for consideration from GOI Under unavailability of varieties under 10 years there should be relaxation in distribution subsidy of more than 10 years varieties. Under the GoI mission schemes in contingent situation there should be provision that in approved AAP state govt. may increase components target i.e., seed, drip, sprinklar, farm pond Under GoI mission 50% amount of annual allocation should be release earliest.
