STATISTICS Results of Working Group Discussion

Objectives Find an acceptable way to identify correctly how domestic fires are initiated Setting up sustainable fire statistics input from multiple sources. Act to diminish all fires, first focus on fires with an electrical cause

Actions & next steps Objective: Find an acceptable way to identify correctly how domestic fires are initiated Actions (first step) : Compare who investigates fire causes in Member states Comparison of how they investigate fire causes Questionnaire to be send to each fire brigade involved in EFA Results to be presented at the next Roundtable

Actions & next steps Objective: Setting up sustainable fire statistics input from multiple sources Actions: –Further exchange among WG members to draft a basic fire report form (agreement on common parameters) –Sampling approach for future studies that track a fire incident from start to finish i.e. identify different stages of the fire’s effects on goods and people –An EFA working group, possible EC finance, coordination Dr. Neuhaus

Actions & next steps Objective: Act to diminish all fires, first focus on fires with an electrical cause Actions: By the definitions of electrically caused fires, create a credible understanding of the importance of this category of fires Ensure that National regulatory initiatives are recorded and informed to EC with a view to enabling future harmonisation. Use this as a model for other areas to be investigated.
