This is proven by the five quotes that link the color green to the green light on Daisy’s dock, the impression of the Dutch sailors when arriving to a new land, when a snail slowly crawled to the fresher sea in the heat, and when Gatsby sailed out to Tuolomee to inform Cody that a wind might catch him and break him soon. What all of these elements have in common is that they all involve Gatsby in some way, and even when they involved someone else, there was hope to be seen in America in achieving the American dream.
