Climate Our country has a temperate continental climate, with warm summers and cold winters. The difference between the temperature in summer and in winter is quite high, due to the geographical position of our country.

At the highest peak of our country (1,602 m or 5,256 ft), the average temperature is only −0.4 °C (31 °F), whereas in the lowlands of the south, the average temperature is 10 °C (50 °F).

The coldest month is usually January, followed by February and December. During these months, there is usually snow in the mountains and sometimes it snows in cities and lowlands. During March, April and May, the temperature usually increases. During April the temperature and weather tend to vary a lot during the day.

Geography and Landscape Our country is located in the central Europe and its landscape is really varied. Lowlands are situated around valleys of biggest rivers – the Vltava, the Elbe, the Morava. Our hometown lies in the Lowland of Haná.

There are also mountain ranges such as The Ore Mountains, The Giant Mountains, Eagle Mountains, Ranges of Jeseníky and Beskydy, Western Carpatia , Bohemian-Moravian Highland, Šumava, and Bohemian Forest. The highest mountain in our country is Sněžka - 1,602 m (5,256 ft).
