What is NewCAPP? Objective: To expand and strengthen the terrestrial PA system in the Philippines by developing new PA models and building capacity for effective management of the system, supported by improved systemic and institutional capacities Component 1 – Expansion and diversification of RP PA system filling bio-geographical gaps and improving overall coverage and connectivity of the current system Component 2 – Capacity and institutional strengthening for the terrestrial PA system to coordinate and harmonize management of the existing system and new conservation areas Component 3 - Capacity and institutional strengthening to improve the cost effectiveness of PA financing 19 March 2015 Project Duration: August 2010 – July 2015

19 March 2015 AccomplishmentNext Steps Component 1: Draft ICCA Bill passed at the Committee level in both houses of Congress Advocacy support for its passage Two models for establishing/ recognition of conservation areas; Guides developed: 1.ICCA 2.LCA Replication in other areas Started the formulation of the PA Master Plan Finalize the Master Plan and encourage partnership for its implementation

19 March 2015 AccomplishmentNext Steps Component 2: Competency Standards for PA Management Formulate the Guide for the development of curriculum to professionalize PA management; encourage academic institutions (specifically those identified as center for ENR education) to develop a curriculum specific to PA management Handbook of PAMB Operations and Standard Orientation for PAMB Members Orientation training for its roll out Component 3: Model for PES – MILALITTRA Case (IP as seller) Scaling up and replication in other areas
