Alavi-Mandell Publication Awards, $150 These publication awards serve to recognize students whose articles are published in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine (JNM) as a first author

Molecular Imaging Research Grant for Junior Medical Faculty $50,000 for 2 years To provide two-year salary support for one junior faculty member in an academic &/ or research setting to enable them to engage in Molecular Imaging research related to diagnostic or therapeutic applications.

SNM Postdoctoral Molecular Imaging Scholar Program $30,000 for 2 years This postdoctoral program is to support a two-year research endeavor of a trainee holding their MD, MD/PhD, or PhD that promotes integration of molecular imaging into their career.

Covidien Seed Grant for Molecular Imaging/Nuclear Medicine Research, $25,000 to assist researchers in conducting new and innovative pilot projects in nuclear medicine/molecular imaging that have potential for future support from foundations, corporations or government agencies.

Cassen Prize Award This prestigious prize is named in honor of the late physicist Benedict Cassen, whose invention, the rectilinear scanner, first brought the ability to image patients to nuclear medicine. His widow, Mary Wylie Cassen, made a bequest to the Foundation to establish a major award. The awarding of this prize is in recognition of outstanding achievement is essential to encourage development and growth in nuclear medicine. The Cassen Prize has been called the Nobel Prize of nuclear medicine and currently carries an award of $25,000.

The Cassen Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award In addition to the Cassen Prize, the Cassen Estate also established a Postdoctoral Fellowship. This special award provides an opportunity for recent doctoral degree recipients, who have demonstrated exceptional ability, to broaden their experience by participating in research activities at an institution other than their degree-granting institution. Postdoctoral Fellowships currently carry an award of $25,000.

Mark Tetalman Award $5,000 offered every other year This award honors the research accomplishments of a young investigator (less than 36 years of age) who is pursuing a career in nuclear medicine. Dr. Tetalman was a highly respected and productive clinician, researcher, and member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine before his tragic death as a young man.

SNM/Blahd Pilot Research Grant $25,000 The pilot research grants are designed to help basic or clinical scientists in the early stages of their careers conduct research that may lead to further funding. The Mitzi and William Blahd, MD Pilot Research Grant is awarded to the applicant with the highest-ranked proposal.

SNM Student Fellowship Awards $3,000 The SNM Student Fellowships are designed to stimulate students’ interest in molecular imaging/nuclear medicine by supporting their full-time participation in clinical and basic research activities for three months (or less). The top-ranked candidate is designated the Bradley- Alavi Fellow, named by the donors—Drs. Jane and Abass Alavi—in honor of Dr. Stanley E. Bradley, a professor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons until 1978 and a prominent researcher in the fields of renal physiology and liver disease

Council Young Investigator Abstract Awards 13 offered at various amounts The Young Investigators Awards recognize the best abstracts submitted to categories within the Cardiovascular, Neurosciences, Computer & Instrumentation, Nuclear Oncology, and Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry Tracks presented during the Council’s Young Investigator Sessions at the Annual Meeting.

SNM, SNMTS, and SNMTS Student Travel Awards To help support registration, travel, and accommodations towards the attendance of students and postdoctoral or clinical trainees $1,000), Nuclear Medicine technologists $1,500), and nuclear medicine technology students $1,500) who will be presenting abstracts at the SNM Annual Meeting.

SNMTS Bachelor’s Degree Completion Scholarships $5,000 SNMTS Bachelor’s Degree Completion Scholarship serves to support a student who is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree completion program related to his/her nuclear medicine career.

Paul Cole Technologist Scholarships $1,000 Named in memory of Paul Cole, CNMT, who served as President of the SNM Technologist Section (SNMTS) in 1986 and who was known as a champion of education for technologists. These scholarships support students enrolled in certificate, associates, and bachelor’s degree nuclear medicine technology programs at JRCNMT accredited institutions.

SNMTS Advanced Practitioner Program Scholarships $5,000 The SNMTS Advanced Practitioner Program Scholarships serve to support students who are pursuing an advanced practitioner program to advance their careers in nuclear medicine.

SNMTS Clinical Advancement Scholarships $500 The SNMTS Clinical Advancement Scholarships serve to support technologists who are pursuing clinical advancement through didactic educational programs.

SNMTS Outstanding Educator Award, $750 to recognize a SNMTS member who has significantly contributed to providing knowledge that advances and promotes the field of nuclear medicine technology through outstanding work in education. Eligible candidates include teachers but also educators in the non-traditional sense such as industry and clinical professionals.

SNMTS Outstanding Technologist Award, $750 To recognize an SNMTS member who has demonstrated outstanding service and dedication to the field of nuclear medicine technology. Eligible candidates include SNMTS members in any area of the field of nuclear medicine technology who have exhibited commitment to advancing the field in their workplace and through their involvement with the Society. Nominees must be involved with the Society at the local, regional and/or national level and have at least five years of experience in nuclear medicine technology.

SNMTS Best Paper Award, $500 The SNMTS Best Paper Award recognizes the best paper published in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine Technology (JNMT) in the past year.
