NOVEMBER 19, 2014 LCAP Update

Goals 1. Placerville schools will promote high academic achievement for all students while preparing them for 21 st century college and career readiness. 2. Placerville schools will be orderly and purposeful environments in which students and staff feel safe and free to learn and work. 3. Placerville schools will involve parents, families and community stakeholders as partners in the education of all students.

Analysis of Progress – Goal 1 1. Teachers will align all curriculum and instructional strategies with the common core.  Essential standards have been selected on the area of LA K-8.  Teachers are given time to align curriculum and assessments to the Common Core.  Common Core Coach in place for support. 1. Teachers will be trained on new math materials and implement in classroom.  Training on the new math adoption took place prior to the start of school. 1. PUSD will conduct a search and possible pilot of LA materials for adoption in school year.  New LA materials will not be available for review until Nov

Analysis of Progress -- Goal 1 1. Professional Development will be given in the area of GLAD instructional techniques.  All current TK-5 teachers have been trained on GLAD strategies.  Review training was held Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 for all TK-5 teachers. 1. Professional Development will be given in the area of Differentiated Instruction.  This has not yet taken place. Planned for later on in the school year.  Formative Assessment training is scheduled for Nov and Dec at each school site. Formative assessments will lead to DI. 1. Teachers will develop and administer assessments that will show progress towards mastery of Common Core Standards.  Formative Assessments are being developed for Essential Standards.  Summative Assessments are established through new Math adoption and in Writing. Reading needs to be developed.  Review of Benchmark assessment systems has begun and will continue through school year.

Analysis of Progress – Goal 1 1. An intervention program will be administered at all school sites focusing on our significant subgroups of Low Socio- Economic, ELL and Foster Youth.  Before, during and after school intervention programs have been set up.  Formative assessments will allow immediate intervention for students.  Late Markham bus has allowed more students to attend programs. 1. Results of SBAC data will be reviewed and analyzed to identify areas of strength and areas that need further remediation.  SBAC results should be available prior to the end of the school year. 1. Teachers will deliver technology embedded instruction which will provide students access to a digital learning environment.  Some teachers have been sent to training on utilizing technology in curriculum.  Additional computer purchases at all three school sites.  Three year plan developed.

Analysis of Progress – Goal 2 1.Each school will establish strategies to maintain high school attendance rates.  Positive attendance program has been established at each school site.  District SART process established. 1. Each school will establish programs and strategies to maintain a positive learning environment; preventing bullying and harassment of students and staff.  Markham—Safe School Ambassadors and Panthers Always Win  Schnell-- PBIS  Sierra—Positive Action 1. Consistent language and behavioral standards will be established between all school sites.  Consistent school rules have been established between school sites.  Common data input into AERIES for consistent reporting is being established. 1. All school sites will be maintained at a high level and will stimulate a positive learning environment.  Regular maintenance is being performed at each campus.  Long term project plan being developed.

Analysis of Progress – Goal 2 1. Schools will offer a variety of clubs offerings to meet the interests and abilities of all students.  Clubs at Markham have increased from 2 to 6.  OM teams at each school site.  Athletics available for 3-8 grade students. 1.Services will be provided to meet the emotional, behavioral and mental health needs of the students.  Counseling services at all school sites. Schnell 5 days, Markham 4 days and Sierra 2 days.  60% SRO in District. 1.Establish a student survey on school safety and climate.  Survey will be administered Spring of Survey parents from all school sites on school safety and climate.  Survey will be administered Spring of 2015.

Analysis of Progress -- Goal 3 1.The District will provide multiple opportunities to parents to provide input to the programs and progress of the Placerville School District.  Parent Surveys will be given.  All committee meetings are posted on the website and are open to the public.  LCAP parent info nights will be held at each school campus.  PTC meetings are held monthly at each school site. 1.The District will maintain standing committees in which information is provided and ideas sought concerning the District.  DELAC, HEAC, Budget, Technology, GATE, Site Council, LCAP 1.Through written communication the District and School Sites will keep parents informed on the transition to the Common Core.  Common Core message is included in school newsletters to parents.  Common Core message will be placed in the District Newsletter.  Information on Common Core was given at the Back to School Nights for parents.  Contributions were made by District staff on articles in the Mountain Democrat.

Analysis of Progress – Goal 3 1.The District will conduct a comprehensive annual survey to garner input from parents and community members.  Survey will be given in the Spring. 1.All schools will establish communication protocols to utilize both social and traditional media sources.  District Facebook page established.  Each school site will submit a minimum of 3 newspaper articles to the Mountain Democrat throughout the school year. 1.All schools will coordinate with PTC’s for fundraising purposes to meet the needs of and priorities of students.  Active PTC’s are established at each school site.  Funding priorities are set with coordination between both the school site and the PTC board.

Analysis of Progress – Goal 3 1.Communication will be established with community businesses, local non-profits and service clubs as accomplishments within the Placerville School District.  First district newsletter is planned to go out in November.  LCAP update and revision meeting will be held in February. 1.Parenting classes will be established to help parents partner in their child’s education.  Research on parenting classes is currently being done. Plan is for classes to be held after the first of the year.
