Weather’s Role New England Maps for August 13, 2002                                                                                                                                                                                                               When the student clicks on Boston, MA the map of that area shows high levels of ozone even at 8 am in the morning. Ground-level ozone is formed when two types of pollutants, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and oxides of nitrogen, react in the presence of sunlight. Ozone is likely to reach unhealthy levels on hot sunny days. The red on the map indicates unhealthy air quality. The student’s will investigate how weather has influenced this high level of ozone during the early morning hours. 4/17/2017 Air Pollution: What's the Solution?
