Perception: Top category for how IT is viewed is “as an expense.” IT = COST CENTER What we do: Follow the mandate to cut cost and drive efficiency through process improvements. What we want to do: Send the message: “IT adds value!” (14%) 2012 ILTA Tech Survey: Management’s view of IT

Perception: Change is Hard. Change is Risky. IT CHANGE = RISK 2012 ILTA Tech Survey: Three biggest annoyances What we do: Create change control processes and work hard to manage user expectations. What we want to do: Send the message: “IT changes are safe, and good for the firm.”

PROCESS = SOLUTION image: Perception: We need cost efficiency. We need risk mitigation. What we do: Build processes to optimize resources, bring predictable outcomes. (e.g., ITIL v3) What we want to do: Too much process has downsides – stifle innovation. Isn’t there a better way?
