OBJECTIVE: TO WORK AS A CLASS TO EFFECTIVELY ANSWER AP QUESTIONS AND TO IDENTIFY ELEMENTS OF AN ARGUMENT English 10 Honors Day 30

Test DON’T FREAK OUT! When you get your test back, look over it and see if you can figure out why you missed some questions. We will discuss frequently missed questions.

“Two Ways to Belong to America” Get out your worksheet over “Two Ways” and pair up. With your partner, decide on an answer and rationale for each multiple choice question. Group with another pair and reach a consensus (answer and rationale). Group up with another group and repeat the same process. (each group will now have 8 members) Each group send a representative to the front of the room. These reps will reach an agreement on the class’s answers.

Argument The 5 elements of argument are  Hook  Claim  Support (reasons and evidence)  Counterclaims (concessions and refutations)  Concluding Statement

“An Indian Father’s Plea” As we read “An Indian Father’s Plea” on pages identify the elements of an argument and answer the Key Ideas and Details questions. For homework, take notes over this article (and any other texts you don’t yet have notes over) to help you prepare for EA 2.
