GLOBAL ICT STANDARDISATION FORUM FOR INDIA (GISFI) Prof. Dr. Ramjee Prasad, CTiF, Aalborg University Fellow IEEE, FIET, FIETE, FWWRF - Founding Chairman, GISFI, GSC-18 Meeting, July 2014, Sophia Antipolis, France Document No: GSC(14)18_020 Source: GIFSI Contact: Prof. Dr. Ramjee Prasad Agenda Item: 3

GISFI in a nutshell: GISFI is celebrating its 5 th anniversary this year: –Approved by Indian Government (DoT) –Contributing to Indian standards via TEC, TRAI,... –Focuses on Indian indigenous requirements –Indian capacity building via Ph.D. programmes –Strong relationships with Indian academia –Relationships with SDOs (ITU-T, ARIB, ETSI, OMA, TIA, TTC, WWRF,...) GISFI has started to work on 5G GSC#18, July, 2014 Sophia Antipolis 2

Working Groups There are 5 working groups in GISFI: –Future Radio Networks & 5G –Security and Privacy –Green ICT –Cloud and Service Oriented Network –Internet of Things (IoT) Additionally, there are 2 groups, namely: –Special Interest Group –Spectrum Group GSC#18, July, 2014 Sophia Antipolis 3

Major Achievements Future Radio Group is now working on 5G. Workshop on “India 5G Standardization” being held in New Delhi, India on 1 st Sept’2014 => All GSC#18 bodies are invited to participate. Security and Privacy Group has provided its outputs to TEC, DoT, TTSC and initiated work on Cyber Security Green ICT Group has provided its outputs to TEC, DoT for their Recommendations on ‘Approach toward Green Telecoms’. Meetings with TRAI held as well. Cloud and SON Group has provided its outputs to TRAI on “Emergency services” Internet of Things Group has developed several use cases from which requirements and high level architecture are derived. Inputs have been provided to TEC, DoT and ITU-T Next 5 years will see similar close collaborations! GSC#18, July, 2014 Sophia Antipolis 4

Thank You! Prof. Dr. Ramjee Prasad Founding Chairman, GISFI
