Research Environment: Is there an existing, or developing, supportive and high quality research environment for this Project and the HDR students where appropriate?

CRICOS Provider Code: 00113B MAJOR CHANGES – CI ELIGIBILITY (DP & IN) Simplified - as at 1 January 2016 a CI must meet at least one of the following criteria Be an employee for at least 0.2 FTE at an eligible organisation Be a holder of an Emeritus appointment at an eligible organisation *For IN, 1 st named CI must be an Indigenous Australian (no change)

CRICOS Provider Code: 00113B CROSS SCHEME ELIGIBILITY (DP & IN) ‘Future’ cross scheme eligibility has changed Those on Centres of Excellence, Industrial Transformation Research Hubs or Centres or Special Research Initiatives funded from 2015 or later can only apply for or hold one Project / Award / Fellowship under the DP program Refer A6.2 (pp ) & make sure your CI’s check their eligibility with their Research Office!

CRICOS Provider Code: 00113B MAJOR CHANGES – PROJECT LIMITS (DP & IN) Australian Laureate Fellow applicants can relinquish existing projects in order to comply with limits should their ALF be successful For others, limits remain unchanged from 2015 – can be funded for a maximum of two projects under the Discovery Program as a CI or one ARC Fellowship or Award and one project

CRICOS Provider Code: 00113B MAJOR CHANGES – PROJECT LIMITS (DP & IN) The Discovery Program includes Australian Laureate Fellowships, Discovery Projects, Discovery Indigenous, Discovery Early Career Researcher Award NB: This means that those who will be holding ARC Future Fellowships or DECRA’s in 2016 can only apply for and hold one project under the DP16 scheme Cross scheme eligibility is complex – check if in doubt & get CI’s to check with their Research Offices

CRICOS Provider Code: 00113B MAJOR CHANGES – SPECIFIC AWARDS DP International Collaboration Awards – renamed Discovery International Awards (DIA) Not time limited (was total period of 12 months in 2015 round and 6 months in 2014 round) Funding limits removed (was $20K per annum of the project per CI or PI)

CRICOS Provider Code: 00113B MAJOR CHANGES –BUDGET (DP & IN ) Can now request funds for ‘focus groups’ as well as workshops and conferences and can include ‘reasonable’ hospitality costs eg morning or afternoon tea or lunch Workshops etc must be necessary for the “conduct of the proposed research” NB: All budget requests MUST be strongly justified

CRICOS Provider Code: 00113B MAJOR CHANGES – PROGRESS REPORTS DP & IN) In RMS applicants must provide progress reports for any ARC funded project, award or fellowship (for any named participant) for which a Final Report has not yet been submitted to the ARC at time of submission Discovery Projects, Discovery Indigenous, Discovery Indigenous Researchers Development, DECRA Linkage Projects Future Fellowships, Federation Fellowships, Australian Laureate Fellowships, Super Science Fellowships or other ARC Fellowship
