The unique sum of characteristics associated with an individual, group, or thing There are some aspects of our identities that are stable and some aspects that change from one situation to the next
Identity Stable Characteristics (same in every situation): Gender Race Origin Age Changing Characteristics (depend on the situation): How you refer to yourself (daughter, son, friend, brother, team-mate, etc.) Social identity (the identity we create for others to see)
