The work Number Verifications of employment and income

Employment and Income Information The Work Number data comes direct from employers. The Work Number houses the data- and does not touch or alter it in any way. The data is only provided to credentialed verifiers, for various purposes.

How to login to The Work Number® Go to http://www.theworknumber.com/go/ To login to The Work Number, go to www.theworknumber.com/go and click “Log In.” (click)

Login – enter your username When you have been granted access to the service, you will receive two e-mails from verifierid@equifax.com. One will contain your username; the other will contain a temporary password. Please note that both username and password are case sensitive. Enter your username on the screen shown… and click “continue”

Login – enter your password Enter your password and click “log in.” The first time you login, you will be prompted to select 6 security questions and provide answers. You will be required to select a security image and personalize your password.

Enter the SSN and select a permissible purpose. New Order Page Select Employment and Income Verification Enter the SSN and select a permissible purpose. From the home screen, select which type of verification you would like to obtain- employment & income or just employment, then click next.

Providing Additional Order Information To begin, enter the borrowers SSN (or employee ID if applicable). Next, if you have an internal loan number you would like associated with the order, provide that under the “Tracking Number” field. This tracking number will be included on the completed verification for your records. Next, select whether or not you have written consent (and note that this is required if you are requesting income information); you can only request employment information if you do not have written consent. Next, most of our clients will select “Consumer’s application for credit” in the drop down under “Permissable Purpose.” Finally, select which type of records you want to obtain in the “Records From” drop down list- you can choose from All Employers, Current Employers, or Previous Employers. Click the “Next” button when you are ready to proceed.

Completed Verifications The last date the employer has sent us information on the employee Please note, verifications are view once only so you will need to print or save a screenshot for your records. Is the employee actively working for this employer? Job Title Then your verification will be displayed. It will include the last date the employer updated information on the employee, whether the employee is actively working for the employer, and their job title. Income verifications provide current YTD income and the previous two years if available. Income verifications provide current YTD income and the previous two years if available. Please note- if you are contracted for verifications of employment only, your verifications will not contain this income information.

Record is Excluded Due to Filters or Not On Database

Previous Slide- Further Clarification Why Does the message “We’re sorry, we cannot return the employee’s record because it did not meet your company’s applied Business Rules” apply to both filtered records and no records? The old or “legacy” version of The Work Number and the new version process filters and active records in a different order. The legacy application search logic searched the database first, and if active records were found, would then match the filter parameters. The new version’s application logic applies filters first before checking whether a record is active, so that is why it might return the message “…did not meet your company’s applied business rules,” even when there are no active records on the database. In the end, both applications (legacy and new) return the correct records and your overall hit rate has not decreased, although it may appear to you that you are getting more “no hits” due to filters than before.
