Admission to Program - GATE I Exam Requirements Requirement for candidates entering teacher preparation programs in Wisconsin Based on high school knowledge State sets requirements and passing scores
Scores Meeting the Basic Skills Requirement ACT Passing Scores Composite score of 23 or higher; minimum of 20 on Mathematics English Reading SAT Passing Scores Composite 1070 Minimum of 450 on each (verbal and mathematics) All scores must come from one sitting. Exams must be completed within the past 5 years OR PRAXIS - CORE Academic Skills for Educators passing scores Mathematics150 Writing162 Reading156
When should I take the exam? Complete MATH 10 or 20 if required Complete WRIT course if need added writing skill During freshman year Transfer students - 1 st semester of enrollment
Where can I take the exam? UW-Eau Claire Academic Testing Center, Computer-based, Schofield 226 Prometric Testing Centers Eau Claire - Keith Street Location Other 4-year universities that offer it
What are the dates when I can take the exam? PRAXIS CORE Computer-based is only option available Testing window dates availability Two-weeks, once a month Combined exam 5 hours or sections 2 hours each Available dates and times will show as you register

How much does the exam cost? Combined test - $135 Individual test sections - $85 Fee Waiver Submit 6 weeks in advance of registering
When will I receive my scores? Official scores PRAXIS CORE 2-3 weeks after testing window dates concludes Once received at UWEC, scores can be viewed under the “Test Scores” drop-down box option in My Blugold CampS Student Center
Accommodations Request accommodations at least 6 weeks in advance of your test date
