Year 8 in to 9 Options Your curriculum Your choices

CHOICE = RESPONSIBILITY You will have some choice and some control over the subjects you study in year 9 You study fewer subjects but for more lessons – in depth learning Remember choices have consequences You need to research to make the right choices for now and the future

Core Year 9 Curriculum All students will study a core curriculum of: EnglishMathsScienceLangRS/ Czship/ ICT PEGeo- graphy History

Options: 4 lessons a fortnight You will select 3 of these subjects on your options form and will study 2 of them Music Drama Art Product Design Food Tech

Next Steps Be on time for assemblies over the next week – to get information about option choices from Heads of Subject Speak to subject area teachers, PTL and tutors Review your progress in these subjects Attend Parents Evening/Options Evening on Wednesday 19 th March with your parents Collect your personalised Options Form Make sure you see one of the presentations on how to make your choices Complete your form and hand it in on time to tutors

Do’s and Don’ts… Do talk to a wide range of people so you can make an informed choice Do select subjects that you are good at Do select subjects that you might need for your future career Do select subjects that you enjoy Do not select subjects because of your friends Do not select subjects because you like or do not like particular teachers
