Activity 2 Break the class into small groups. Each group is to choose an organisation from the list provided below (each group must choose a different organisation): Organisations (tutor to add or change as they see fit) 99 designs (global web design company) Starbucks or Gloria Jeans or The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (franchise businesses) Toyota Motor Corporation (global company with JVs and Wholly owned subsidiaries) BHPbilliton (a global resource company) Mars Corporation (family confectionary company now global) PricewaterhouseCoopers (global professional services partnership based business) Activity One: Identifying external triggers to internationalise (15 minutes) For your chosen organisation identify the key external environmental factors that would most likely have influenced your choice to internationalise. Justify your choice. Activity Two: Identify potential internal triggers to internationalise (20 minutes) For your chosen organisation identify the key internal environmental factors that would have to be in place to enable your organisation to internationalise. Explain. Activity Three: entry mode choice and likely changes in the future (10 minutes) Is there a clear match between modes of operation in international markets being undertaken by your organisation and their likely country attractiveness assessment? Justify your answer and if appropriate suggest alternative modes of operation.
