Among the oldest Spanish wine DO, created in hectares (28,417 acres), which is 1,2% of the total Spain´s vineyard surface. 50 Millions liters produced/year (roughly 5.4 million cases). Average output of 40 Hl/Ha (roughly 3 tons per acre/ 6.5 tons per hectare) growers and 100 wineries. D.O. Navarra -Main Facts-

From south of Pamplona to the Ebro valley (80 miles). Protected by different mountain ranges (Pyrenees, Iberica) and structured by Ebro and its tributaries. Different altitudes (750m-300mm). Benefiting from a triple climate influence: Atlantic (north), continental (center), Mediterranean (south). Varied type of soils: clay, limestone, sand and pebbles. Garnacha was planted in Navarra at the beginning of XXth century (after phyloxera). Has been dominant till 30 years ago when other grapes were reintroduced (Tempranillo, Cabernet, Merlot). Represents 24% of total plantings and growing. Traditionnally used for “saignée” rosés and reds. Varied climate influence and soils produce different styles: North of the appellation; Rhone style, South of the appellation; Mediterranean style (Ebro valley). Common wines characteristics : good acidity levels (freshness), fragant (distinctive fruity aromas) and terroir driven. Red wines from indigenous grapes
