ADVANCINGHEALTH AT A GLANCE Will support collaborative demonstration projects led by Ontario-based publicly funded healthcare organization in partnership with companies and academia Targeting technologies which are market/demonstration- ready Up to $350,000 grant to support the demonstration project 10 investments in 2 years (5 remaining ) 2
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES Enable the public healthcare sector to accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies and process improvements; Engage the public healthcare community to demonstrate innovative products and services that produce better patient care, patient outcomes, patient safety and to reduce costs; and, Identify and bridge barriers to realize sustainable and long-term adoption of innovations/technologies in the public healthcare sector. 3
HOW IT WORKS Up to $350,000 from OCE to support the demonstration project Up to $250,000 to support the demonstration project –1:1 matching required on direct project costs (combination of cash and in-kind, minimum 25% cash; preference given to projects with strong cash contributions) Up to $100,000 (2 X $50K) for up to two academic vouchers per demonstration project to support academic researchers and students to work on the demonstration project and/or to assist with adoption. –Each academic voucher is a distinct separate project Funds will support eligible demonstration project costs at the Ontario-based publicly funded healthcare organization and the company based on a reimbursement model –Salaries, consumables, travel, some equipment, service providers 4

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY Criteria Applications must be led by the Ontario-based publicly funded healthcare organization in partnership with a company(s) that have a validated technology and/or innovative product that it wants to demonstrate in a public healthcare setting Partners must meet the minimum cash and in-kind matching requirements (1:1 match – 25% cash, 75% in-kind) The proposed demonstration project must address the problem statement and/or challenge identified by the Ontario-based publicly funded healthcare organization The partners must demonstrate close collaboration and the proposed project should be scalable with a high potential for adoption 7

DEMONSTRATION PROJECT CASE STUDIES Successful applicants will work with OCE and IVEY: International Centre for Health Innovation (ICHI) to: Create a portfolio of case studies to identify lessons learned, opportunities, barriers, and key success factors to accelerate the adoption of innovative products and services in the public healthcare sector Disseminate lessons learned and project outcomes and impact across key health system stakeholders Analyze barriers and opportunities for innovation adoption and the sustainability of the model for early market and make recommendations to the province for future actions Develop performance measures and metrics for demonstration projects 9
