Q1.In your own experience of working within the discipline of design, what is or should be the purpose of Design Research?

Q2. Thinking about the assertion in the title of this session: there are gaps that need bridging between academic design research and design practice, why are we, in design, having these discussions? What is it about research vs. practice that is creating these tensions in design?

Q3. If you agree there is a gap(s), what needs to change? Is the academy conducting research that is not effectively responding to industry’s requirements or is industry poorly positioned to effectively utilise knowledge from academic research?

Q4. Drawing upon your own experience of design pedagogy (SADI/TU Delft), do we need more or less theoretical knowledge in the education of outstanding designers?

Q5. In your experiences of collaborative work between the academy and industry partners, what challenges do we face to knowledge transfer and how can they be overcome?

Q6. Considering your experience of the Korean situation, what do you appreciate about the contribution of academic research to the design industry in Korea?

Q7. Thinking about the situation at TU Delft, what do you appreciate about the contribution of industry to design academia & education in the Netherlands?

Q8. Where will we be in 5 years time? Are you optimistic about a more collaborative future?
