AUTOMATIC PLANT WATERING SYSTEM CREATED BY: KOOSHA DANESHI, CHAO JIANG, ALASTAIR FRASER
PROJECT DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATIONS We wanted to create a system using Arduino to measure the moisture levels of multiple plants and to effeciently deliver water to them.
REQUIRED PARTS AND COST Soil Moisture Sensor x4 Mini Water Pump X4 L298 Dual H-Bridge Motor Driver x2 AC/DC Power Adapter 4mm Pipe for Pump x4 Sensor Shield Total Cost: $54.60
MOISTURE SENSOR Uses two probes to pass current through the soil and then reads the resistance to get the moisture level. Power: 3.3 V or 5 V Output voltage signal: V Current: 35 mA
ARDUINO AND SHIELD
AC/DC ADAPTER Supplies additional current to the driver for the pumps.
PUMP DRIVERS Provides up to 2 A each for the two connected pumps Controlled by switching high and low states on a pin on the Arduino
PUMPS Draw 1.76 A and between 3 to 9 V
