Applications and Interviews The Board is exclusively using to search teacher applicants. We strongly encourage candidates to register with applytoeducation.com as soon as possible. The Board screens applicants as needed. All complete application packages from candidates with qualifications in divisions and subjects which have been identified as required for the upcoming school year, will be evaluated by a Selection Committee. A list of required documentation can be found on the Board website in our brochures, on applytoeducation.com.

A complete “Application Package” consist of: Curriculum vitae, Ontario college of Teachers Certificate of Registration and Certificate of Qualification (Faculty of Education Candidates upon receipt). Faith Reference Portfolio (visit our website to download the proper form). Copies of most recent Performance appraisal (qualified teachers) or Practice Teaching Reports (Faculty of Education Candidates) References, (A minimum of two professional references required) Copies of undergraduate transcripts from Universities/Colleges (original not required) Applications and Interviews

Interviews for occasional teaching positions are held between the months of June and September, and then on an “as needed” basis throughout the school year. With the exception of French candidates, our screening starts mid-February.

Do you have to be Catholic to apply? The Board is a denominational employer and preference is given to Catholic Teachers. Non-Catholics are welcome to apply and their hiring will depend on who else applies. I don’t have a current pastoral reference. What should I do? The Board prefers an up to date reference indicating that you are a practicing Catholic. A reference from your former or ‘home’ priest is acceptable, but not preferable, if a current reference is not available. Please visit our website to download the faith reference portfolio.

Is there a deadline for applying? There is no deadline however, you are advised to send your completed package to as soon as you have all of the supporting documents ready. The application evaluation process begins in early spring. Does the Board anticipates hiring staff for the upcoming school year? The Board anticipates hiring a very limited number of probationary teachers. Occasional teachers will be hired. I don’t have everything listed on the application form to send in. What should I do? Graduating students will not have their Ontario college of teachers certification yet. Letter from faculty confirming enrollment in program is accepted. Submit all other required documentation.

Do I also need to apply to individual schools? No. The interview and selection process is done centrally through the Human Resources Services Department. Can I supply teach in May and June before I get my certification? This is only done in emergency situations where there are no certified teachers available to supply teach. This is usually in areas where there is a short supply of certified teachers (i.e. French)
