Ubiquitous Shift With Information Centric Network Caching Using Fog Computing This research is contained in Computational Intelligence in Information Systems. Springer Series 2015 Computational Intelligence in Information Systems Ibrahim Abdullahi, Suki Arif, Suhaidi Hassan InterNetworks Research Laboratory, School of Computing. Universiti Utara Malaysia UUM, Sintok Kedah. Malaysia Ubiquitous, Information Centric Network Cache and Fog Computing Information Centric Network is a paradigm that is concern about names ahead of host centric network. Objects/information are referred to by names not host address. Information are becoming larger deposited on the Internet which necessitated the need to re-visit the trouble of managing the information to the drive of Internet of Things. Caching off-path using Fog concept aims to mitigate ubiquitous problems. A User is connected to all gadgets with the help of the controllers, actuators and sensors. Figure 1. Ubiquitous Environment. Conceptual Shift using Fog 1.Creating a leaf node for ICN caching using Fog. 2.Bandwidth consumption reduced. 3.Information referred by name in lieu of IP addresses. 4.Subscription-Publish approach. 5.Predictive better throughput. Figure 2. IoT Framework Abstract. With the immense growth of information lodged and accessed on the Internet, exhaustion of IP addresses are becoming a key problem to managing hosts. Information are solely dependant on Clouds for storage, retrieval and processing. However, Cloud would be better managed with Fog, and Information Centric Network (ICN). These along similar paradigm will lead to shift to Internet of Things (IoT) and Internet of Everything (IoE). Information Centric Network aims at replacing IP addresses with names and the hidden advantage of neighbor nodes being the aid to fast information dissemination. ICN is used to serve as an API to better caching on ubiquitous off-path by introducing Fog computing. Doing this is aimed at improving heterogeneity, lower latency and effective usage of the bandwidth. Internet of Things (IoT) The idea of IoT will most and immensely benefit users. However, queues, delays and bandwidth pose high challenge. A shift in ICN-Fog where the fog represents the nodes at the edges to improve caching will mitigate some of the challenges. IoT remains a clear and achievable dream of connectivity upgrade. Figure 3. Ubiquitous Shift with ICN Motivation 1.According to Cisco visual network index states that world population will be out- numbered by smart connectivity. 2.Recent Cisco reports submitted global traffic will reach 4.8 zettabyte a year. 3.Moon et al. [4], in their paper stated that ubiquitous computing must support services to query, processing. Why ICN-Fog in Ubiquitous Computing According to studies, predictions and reports by Jacobson et al in 2009, Gantz, F in 2010 and Cisco forecast (2014); submitted the exponential rise in access to online information. IP usage has hit 1.5 exabytes per month at the end of 2013 from 820 Petabytes per month in Gantz et al. additionally submitted that huge amount of information shared by IP hit up increasingly from 2008 to 2010 and through the years. Challenges 1.Heterogeneity in the Clouds. 2.Location. 3.Unique Addressing. 4.Providing Everything at all times. 5.Get Everything at all places. 6.Provide and Get Every Service any where. 7.Information synchronizing with devices. 8.Security and privacy 9.Parallelism, concurrency of retrieving information.
