Action taken report on the Commitments Serving of MDM by NGOs through centralized Kitchens in Rural Areas: o Akshaya Patra Foundation is serving MDM in Medak District including in rural schools of Sanga Reddy, Kondapur, Sadashivapet and Munipally mandals. o The issue was taken up with the NGOs and they have agreed to set up Cluster Kitchens to reduce the distance. o An analysis is being done on the availability of space for construction of Kitchen cum Stores in the schools being covered by Akshaya Patra Foundation and construction will be taken up wherever land is available. Decline in coverage of children in Hyderabad and Karimanagar districts against enrolment. o Awareness sessions were organized to the SMC members throughout the State especially focussing the issue in these two districts. 3
Cont…. o Coverage of children in Karimanagar district has improved. In Hyderabad more efforts need to be put in. Slow pace of construction of Kitchen cum Stores. o The construction of Kitchen cum Stores was slow due to inadequacy of unit cost as per State SS Rates. o The State Steering cum Monitoring Committee in its meeting held on has agreed to meet the additional cost from the labour component of MGNREGS funds. o Action is being taken to complete the construction of kitchen cum stores during Mismatch in data on Annual Work Plan & Budget and MDM-MIS and improving on poorly performing indicators. o This is due to not updating of MDM data on MIS regularly and in time by the schools and mandals. o The issue was persued and it has improved except on construction of Kitchen cum Stores, usage of LPG by cooking agencies and MME expenditure. o Action is being taken to improve the performance on these indicators. 4

Progress report Coverage : Primary – % Upper Primary % 74% of Primary Schools and 71% of Upper Primary Schools were inspected during the quarter - October to December, 2014 Health Checkups was carried out for 65.04% of students during the quarter October to December, Coverage of children is 44.96% and 46.93% at primary and upper primary levels under Aided School category, which needs to be improved. Utilization of central assistance towards cost of food grains, cooking cost and honorarium to cook cum helpers need to be improved. 7

State Initiatives The State Government made provision of MDM to students of Class IX and X also. The State Government has provisioned and additional cooking cost of Rs.1/- per day per child to provide two eggs a week to each child in MDM thus adding protein content of the meal From , the State Government is supplying Super Fine variety of Rice for MDM scheme additionally bearing an amount of Rs crores per annum approximately. The feed back from schools is that the supply of super fine variety of rice is encouraging children to take meal and requests are pouring in to increase quantity of rice per child now being provided. 9
