The novel Week 6 is our cat essay task. Monologue will be due end of week 7. 4th of September. (may change)

plan Week 1 – science fiction genre, break down the story, discuss setting and author’s intentions. Week 2 – characters – bados study. What themes are demonstrated through the characters and their actions Week 3 – techniques – authors uses of 1st person, diary format. How does this connect with the themes. Week 4 – what is a monologue? How do we write and perform one. Week 5 – paragraph review, notes, questions queries etc. Week 6 – cat assessment (ALL SPARE TIME FOR MONOLOGUE) WEEK 7 – MONOLOGUE TIME AND PERFORMING.

NCCYEAR9ENGLISH.WEEBLY.COM Your creative assessment will require you to create a fictional character and setting (post apocalyptic) and record a diary. You will have to upload your diary entry every Thursday. Minimum expected is 250 words per entry. You can record over multiple days. In your entry you can talk about what you did that day, things you are thinking about, problems that arise etc. Rewards to the best diary entries of the week. This will help you with your monologue. No warnings.

Science Fiction Conventions Setting: Futuristic or alternative history. It will vary from the author’s and place the character in a situation where the author can explore their themes and ideas. For your essay you MIGHT have to explain how the author’s depicts the setting (language, characters). And how the author uses the setting to help convey the themes and issues within the short story (How does the setting allow the author to explore their themes?).

Science Fiction Conventions Themes: Issues and ideas that the author explores within the text. Science Fiction texts usually carry a warning or a message which reflects the authors feelings about the future.

Science Fiction Conventions Characterization: The author’s construction of a character in a text. This construction includes the qualities, motives, actions, thoughts, dialogue and interactions that the character has. What writing techniques might the author use to construct a character? Descriptive language, Point of view, dialogue.

Science Fiction Conventions Plot –. Introduction  conflict  rising action  climax  resolution. How does the author structure the story. Are you there as it is happening or is the narrator reflecting on something? How does it affect the story?
