INTRODUCTION Systems development life cycle - the entire set of activities needed to address business problems by suggesting information system solutions. The plans constitute the blueprint- organization needs to implement the new system representing the desired state of affairs and create a prioritized schedule of projects.

Information System Strategic Planning (ISSP) Set of long-term goals that describe the information architecture and major information system initiatives needed to achieve the goals of the organization. ISSP must be aligned with the overall organization’s strategic plan. To make the customer remain loyal so that the profit can be increased. To make the company run smoothly by using the computerised system.

Information Systems Operational Planning (ISOP) ISOP is a set of projects that will be executed by the IS department and the functional areas managers in support of the IS strategic planning. ISOP responsible for identifying hardware component and configuration that allow software to operate. Typical ISOP contains: Mission & objectives of IS function. Summary of info needs of the functional areas & organization as a whole. Constraints of the IS function in terms of technological, financial & personal limitation. Long-term plans indicating the summary of the system needed by the company & the system projects selected to reach organization goals. Short-term plan listing the current information system projects & a detailed plan of projects to be developed or continued during the current year.

SYSTEMS REQUESTS Is a written request from management or end user which triggers the start of the systems development life cycle. Includes five (5) considerations: Project sponsor. Business needs. Functionality of the System. Expected value. Special issues.

Project Sponsor. Is the person who usually initiates proposed information systems project having an interest in seeing that new system succeeds. Rafiq is a project sponsor. Business Needs. Describes why the information system should be developed explaining to the information systems steering committee why the organization should fund the project concerned. The present system is prepared manually, difficult to handle the accounts. Time consuming to prepare the accounts. Functionality of the System. Describes what the proposed information system will do. Computerized systems will be easy to handle and time consume more shorten.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS STEERING COMMITEE Get support of top management. Rafiq’s uncle is a top management. Steering Committee set up representing top management and all functions areas within the organization. They will responsible for overall planning and control of the systems development effort of the organization. They also provide guidance throughout the systems development life cycle.

PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION Important to understand the existing system before proposing changes or modifications and need to establish a working relationship with users of the systems. Nature of the Problem. The problem of the company is, they prepared the accounts manually that consume more time The competitors give discount to customer that pay within 30 days.

EVALUATING SYSTEM REQUESTS Technical Feasibility Determining whether a proposed information system is possible given the current state of technology. The company should be update with the latest technology in order to developed the system Operational Feasibility Covers two aspect which is technical performance and acceptance within the organization The company should give a trial to their employees whether they can adapt with the system or not Economic Feasibility Determining whether a proposed information system will yield benefit that exceed its cost If the company can adapt with the system then the system can be use permanently
