CASE STUDIES IN DWBI

Client A leading Global Investment Bank. Engagement Engagement was for developing a risk reporting solution for correlation business and emerging markets. It was used for calculating the risk percentage and generating different reports related to risks in capital market. The risk data was captured in a Data mart and an SSAS Cube services, various reporting needs using SSRS. Solution Approach The SSRS Reports used their data source as the SSAS cubes created for different emerging markets. A winform based tool was developed using.NET 3.5 Framework..The objective of the tool was to extract all informations related to the SSAS Cube and process it automatically from the GUI. On running this tool,it will display the different Dimensions,Measures and Measuregroups present in the SSAS Cube. The Dimensions,Measures and Measure group was displayed in form of Tree view structure. The user can now process a particular dimension or dimensions by choosing the check boxes. On the GUI,Process Button was there which will process the checked in Dimensions and Measuregroups..The tool also provided the facility to process the whole SSAS Cube. Business Benefit  Decision making capability using SSRS reports  Reduced TCO  The tool provides the ability to the user to process the SSAS Cube without going to the database.  The technical knowledge of SSAS is not required and anyone can do it through this tool.  Some Time related performance advantage is also achieved through this tool. Case Study-1

Client A leading Retail Client in Middle East Engagement The client was facing problem in managing data. Loading data into production database was taking a huge amount of time ( more than 16 hours) so many DB Jobs were failing. Reports were taking a huge amount of time to populate. No mechanism for analyzing the health of the business. Solution Approach A complete Database inspection and examination was done first. The bottleneck was that each day around 5 TB( terabyte) was data was re-loaded. An incremental Data loading approach was designed. Database queries were fine-tuned. Reports which was taking 6-8 hours were optimized to 2-3 minutes. Reports were developed using SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services). To analyze the health of the business,a complete analytical solution using SSAS( Sql Server Analysis Services) was implemented. KPIs were set to understand the different trends. Business Benefit  Data Loading made very fast  Report generation time was drastically reduced ( from 8 hours to 2 minutes)  High level of Optimization was done  Different business related KPIs were set  Health of the business was properly analysed Case Study-2

Client A leading Retail Client in India Engagement The client was facing problem in understanding the sales growth across different stores and how to manage their warehouse. Solution Approach Client’s data was loaded to a newly designed Data Warehouse(DW). From there, analytics cubes were developed on which interactive dashboards were generated. The Store Manager of each store could see their customized KPIs (Key Performance Indicator) through different dashboards. Business Benefit  Historical data properly managed  Data Loading optimization  Interactive and rich reports  Dashboards with visual KPIs Case Study-3

Client A leading Energy utilities Client Engagement The client needed Database consultation and MSBI ( Microsoft BI) Expert to work at client’s premises for their reporting and ETL (Extract, Transform, Loading) needs. Solution Approach A proper database examination was done. Consultation was provided for optimization and tuning. Manpower outsourcing was done where MSBI experts worked with client’s IT team. Business Benefit  Database Management  Optimization  BI Capability provided Case Study-4
