Name:Chloe Lynee School:FLVS Teacher:Mr. Josvai 1.04 Name:Chloe Lynee School:FLVS Teacher:Mr. Josvai Your task is to create an informational pamphlet or presentation for travelers that highlights achievements of the Golden Age of Islam. Recall that the Golden Age of Islam refers to a period of intellectual, political, social, and economic achievements from approximately the 8th through 13th centuries. Your pamphlet should focus on achievements from this historical time period.

Intellectual Achievement! Add a picture, and tell me about this achievement. It is considered to be one of the first universities in the world, the House of Wisdom was established in Abbasid-era Baghdad. It is considered to have been the most important intellectual center for learning in the Golden Age of Islam! Intellectual Achievement!

Political Achievement More and more groups of people became under the control of the Islamic. Law was an important Political Achievement in the Golden Age of Islam because it put politics, and people into an order. It became more organized, more civilized. The law was universally spread throughout the empire. The empire was soon blended with diverse cultures and trade was booming! The caliphate was booming with goods and new information. It was changing everything in a more political ruling way, and a more positive, organized way. Add a picture, and tell me about this achievement. Political Achievement

Social Achievement Add a picture, and tell me about this achievement. Sinbad and Aladdin seem like characters in a book. Well they were! They were from the “One Thousand Nights.” Commonly referred to in English as Arabian Nights. The original stories came from different cultures and was a great way to bring cultures together. The social part of this is that diverse and different cultures were able to see different perspectives through the art of story telling! Social Achievement

Art Achievement Add a picture, and tell me about this achievement. This golden, dome shaped building was built in Jerusalem by Umayyad caliph 'Abd al-Malik from 685 to 619. It was meant to express the Muslims' growing self confidence and Islams golden age. Hence the gold dome. To me it looks like it is being used to express Islams' competitiveness to other local buildings of other religions. The Byzantium was a huge comp for them as well. Art Achievement
