Math Message Use the information on page 179 in your Student Reference Book to answer the following questions: Are congruent figures similar? What is true about the ratios of the lengths of corresponding sides?

Math Message cont. Are congruent figures similar? Similar figures have the same shape but are not necessarily the same size. Congruent figures have the same shape and the same size. So…congruent figures are always similar, but similar figures are not necessarily congruent. What is true about the ratios of the lengths of corresponding sides? The ratio of the lengths of the corresponding sides of similar polygons is the same for each pair of corresponding sides. The lengths of corresponding sides are proportional.

Extra Info Corresponding angels are formed by pairs of corresponding sides that meet at a vertex. Corresponding angles are congruent See example on page 179 in Student Reference Book Solve problems 1 and 2 on page 179
