Crisis and Conflict Background The Rise of the Nazis in Germany The Nazis in Power Consequences

Beginnings To understand what happened in Germany between 1919 and 1939, we need to understand how Germany reached its position in What was the world that Hitler was born into in 1889? How had it changed by 1919?

Young Adolf

Social Life What was it like to live in Germany under the Nazis? Did life in Germany change for ordinary Germans when the Nazis came to power? For Jews? For citizens of surrounding countries?

Cultural Expression What is meant by cultural expression? The work of writers, artists, musicians, choreographers and filmmakers. What is the relationship between cultural expression and political, social or economic developments? We are going to study this during our double periods on Tuesdays.
