What is Translational Science?
The Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA) Consortium The CTSA program supports a consortium of institutions that work together to improve the way clinical and translational research is conducted nationwide to enhance its efficiency and quality.
Translational Research Aims o Apply discoveries generated in the laboratory and in preclinical studies to the development of human trials and studies. o Examine cost-effectiveness of prevention and treatment strategies. o Enhance adoption of best practices in the community and beyond.
UIC CCTS Our goal is to accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into innovative diagnostics and therapies, disease prevention, improved health care delivery, with a special emphasis on reducing health disparities.
The UIC CCTS… o Serves as UIC’s institutional home for clinical and translational research o Seeks to break down institutional barriers to enable the efficient conduct of clinical and translational research o Provides integrated navigation through campus resources and services
