THE PLAN TEST Understanding your Scores Today you should have received your Individual Plan Test Score Sheet, your Test booklet and a handout entitled “ Using your ACT PLAN results. This presentation will help explain your results and ways to use them. www.planstudent.org Listed on page 7 of your handout “Using Your PLAN Results”

Accessing the ACT Plan Website Step 1: From the Broome Website – go the Guidance Web page One of the great things that ACT provides for the PLAN Test – is an interactive website to explore results information. To access this website you can go to the Broome Home Page and click on Guidance

Under the Resources you will see the PLAN Test link Under the Resources you will see the PLAN Test link. This link will take you to the description of the link. Then go down under Resources and you will see the PLAN Test link

Clicking this link will take you to the ACT website. This will open the description and the link directly to ACT’s website

Choose the option “What your score report tells you” Once on the PLAN website – choose “What your score report tells you”

No test can measure educational development with an absolute precision No test can measure educational development with an absolute precision. It’s best to think of each of your PLAN scores as a range rather than a precise point. For example, if you received a score of 17 on the Reading Test, it means your level of educational development is some where from 15 to 19 = 17 + or – 2. By Looking at your individual Score report note each of the following areas..although – read above

How Do My Scores Compare with Those of Other Students Who Took PLAN? Next to your scores, you'll find the percent of students scoring at or below your score. This shows you how your scores compare to those of students across the country who took PLAN. This section tells you how your scores compares to others

Check out your scores compared to the College Readiness Benchmarks. Comparing these scores indicates whether you are in the same range as other 10th graders across the nation..

To the right are suggestions for improving your skills. The back of your result page lists all your answers and indicates the ones that were correct or what the correct answer should have been. You can review the answers with your test book to learn why yours was incorrect. To the right are suggestions for improving your skills. This is one reason your test book was also returned to you, so you may review what was incorrect and learn how to correct it.

The responses you gave on the Interest Inventory generates the these suggested areas for future jobs – careers. The Career Area List gives examples of the type careers in those areas. Example Below: Your World-of-Work map results is based on the Interest survey you took as part of the test. Read above

In addition, on the “Your Future” tab you can choose other areas to look at. Read above

Under the “Your Career Possiblities” you can use the Interactive Map Tool and explore all the possibilities with many more occupations listed. Read above

There are several things you can now use your PLAN results for: Seeing how well you have done and how you compare to others with your scores Determine the areas you need improvement in for future testing Exploring possible careers / college majors using the interactive website tools You can review your answers using your test books – see what you answered versus what was correct Comparing your scores to the scores of your PSAT and determining which test you might do the best on for your college entrance scores Use your test results wisely to help plan for your future possibilities.
