Syllable & Affix Patterns: Sort 4 (Review of Double, E-Drop, and Nothing) setting hiking reading cutting moving adding stopping living spelling floating begging coming feeling grinning having talking jogging taking pushing humming fixing working going snowing

Rules of adding -ing When a short vowel is followed by one consonant at the end of the base word, double the last consonant before adding –ing. Silent final e must be dropped from the base word before adding -ing. VVC words do not change before adding -ing.
