Module Objectives At the end of the module, students should be able to: identify the terms and concept related to computer define the terms and concepts of computer literacy & awareness describe the three fundamental characteristics of computers identify the relationship between people, events and the development of computers over time. describe at least four areas of society in which computers are used  

What Is Computer ? Machine that can be programmed to accept input, process it into output, and store it in a secondary storage device. Four primary components of a computer system Input Processing Output Storage

What is Computer Literacy? Awareness of their importance, versatility (quality) and pervasiveness (to be accepted) in our society. Knowledge on what computers are and how it works and some technical jargons. Interaction : able to use a computer for some simple applications Being a computer literate is no longer adequate, you need also to be information literate.

What is Information Literacy? How to gather information How to evaluate this information How to make an informed decision. It also requires critical thinking, the capacity to evaluate the quality of the information you are getting
