COLD WAR CHINA AND JAPAN CHINA AND JAPAN POST WORLD WAR II BY MATTHEW BROADMEADOW

China: Communism Invades Before the end of World War II the Chinese nationalist government had began to start failing and the communist party began to go on the rise. Americans had recognized that this government was going to be corrupt because the policies of the government did not favor national support. The communists lead by Mao Zedong began to gain more followers throughout the country through the promise of an increase in food production and increased education. This dispute eventually leads to a chinese civil war to decide their type of government.

Chinese Communism Map This map shows the areas of communist control before the civil war in 1847. The dark red area is the land that is already controlled by communist groups

Japan Post World War II Japan signs a treaty with the United States and 47 other countries It is a mutual security agreement: Japanese Military Bases in exchange for U.S. assuming responsibility for Japan’s

Japan Post World War II The occupation of Japan by the Allied Powers started in 1945 and ended in 1952. General MacArthur was the first Commanders in charge, and the whole operation was mainly the U.S.’s responsibility. Japan lost all of its territory gained since 1894. The Kurile Island’s were occupied by the Soviet Union and the Ryukyu islands were controlled by United States.
