Steaming, vapour treatment Popular treatment within the industry. Can be used pre,during and post exfoliation and during mask application. It works by heating distilled water to produce vapour which is applied directly onto the skin. Some steamers produce ozone by passing oxygen from the steam over an ultra violet bulb which has an anti bacterial effect.

Benefits and effects of steaming Increases circulation which aid cell renewal Encourages sweating to deep cleanse Aids desquamation Relaxed pores aids extraction of comedones Stimulated sebaceous glands Warmth aids relaxation and absorption of products

Contra indications to steaming Sensitive skins Sunburn Acne Rosacea Extreme vascularity Claustrophia

Treatment times Oily, congested skin 15 minutes Dry, dehydrated 10 minutes Dry, mature 5 minutes

Treatment procedure for today Eye make up & lipstick remove Double cleanse Tone and blot Exfoliate – half face with granular scrub other half facial peel Steam and extraction Facial massage movements Tone and blot Moisturise

Facial massage routine 1. Effleurage around the pectorals, deltoids across the trapiezus up to the occipital bone x 6 2. Palming ( oranges, plums, cherries) x 6 3. Lifting ( knuckles in the couch, circular movements with fingers on the trapiezus) x 3 4. Kneading ( hands flat on the collar bone, knead the trapiezus) x 6 5. Linking effleurage ( Slide up the face from shoulder to forehead with alternate hands) 6. Effleurage down to chin into chin kneading x 6 7. See saw on the jawline (cup, pivot and pull back) x 6 8. Cats whiskers x 6 9. Effleurage up bridge of nose x Roll patting across the forehead x Big circles into little circles on the forehead ( finger kneading) x Zig zags ( friction) across the forehead x Figure of 8 around the crows feet

Facial massage routine 14. Corrugator lift with three pressure points x Unwind stress in corrugator x Wipe away lines ( very slow movements) x Effleurage down to the clavicle, massage around to the deltoids x Palmar kneading to the trapiezus and slide up to the Occipital bone 19. Final neck stretch and hold for a second 20. Slide hands back down to the temples and lightly press and hold for 5 seconds
