Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport

Starter... 1.Give me 10! Write down 10 reasons why you want to study BTEC sport in the 6 th form 2. Name the sport and the most important component of fitness needed to be successful in this sport

Session Focus 1.Gain a better understanding of the BTEC level 3 course:  Units of study  How it is assessed  Course expectations 1.Take part in fitness testing and produce a fitness profile of yourself 2.Complete an assignment task to develop understanding of what is expected for the assessment criteria (Pass, Merit, Distinction)

What is a BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport?  A vocational/work related qualification  2 Year Course  Study 7 Units of work  Equivalent to 1 A Level  Course work assessment – no final exams  Assessments are based on assignments and practical work

Course Expectations  Positive attitude towards learning and achieving the best  Arrive ON TIME  Be independent and organised  Attend all lessons and catch up on work missed  Meet deadlines!  KIT – Black shorts/Plain black tracksuit bottoms, polo shirt – compulsory school polo with badge  Lead extra curricular and lower school sessions – this is part of the course

Assessment and Grading Criteria Criteria reference To achieve the criteria the evidence must show that the student is able to: Task no. P1 Describe one test for each component of physical fitness, including advantages and disadvantages. 1a M1 Explain the advantages and disadvantages of one fitness test for each component of physical fitness. 1b  You are issued with an assignment brief which includes the assessment criteria for each unit of work  Assignments are to be completed within a set time scale and deadlines are to be met
