Jews Come Under Roman Rule When conquering Judea, Romans gave control of religion to the Jews. The Jews believed that a Messiah, or savior would appear and restore the kingdom to the Jews. Jesus was born in Bethlehem.

Why Christianity Spread It embraced all people- men and women; slaves, the poor, and nobles. Gave hope to the powerless. Offered a personal relationship with god. Promised eternal life after death. Went against the beliefs of the Romans
