TampereSenior – Ageing society as a possibility -strategic project -one main objective is to change the way of thinking about old people to positive, involving and appreciating -seeks new approaches which help the elderly to be active members of the society and policy-making Involvement of senior citizens along with other age groups in the city is the key to success
TampereSenior, city strategic goals The primary objective of promoting senior citizens’ welfare is to make living at home possible through preventive and rehabilitative services and by providing round-the-clock services and care at home as required An increasing number of residents live at home or in a homely environment reconstructing the service and care system Changing the attitude employees go to clients’ home not vice versa
Services supporting living at home -Service Centres (10) -free for all aged persons living in Tampere -access to certain facilities including meals, hygiene, physiotherapy, foot care, barbering and hairdressing -various free time and recreational activities -Lähitori -service stop (2 at the time) -service stop concept which offers preventive client guidance and daily welfare services in a local context -main purpose is that a client always gets a solution to her or his questions or needs. -offers daily social contacts, clubs and other activities -collects together at one place different operators and service providers of the local area, in a local charasteristic way
Financial support -Subventions for renovations, financial support -subvention by the government e.g. to bathroom renovation for people over 65 -reliefs by the city to smaller alteration work (e.g. handles, slope) -accessibility campaign: elevators to apartment buildings
Home Care Home care facilities are available to the aged who are living at home and need assistance due to reasons of limited mobility, sickness or some other reason Home care facilities cover services and nursing provided at home (cooking, washing, laundry and ironing in addition to medical care) as well as other support services (facilities related to meals, shopping, cleaning, sauna bath, safety telephone and transport) Home Care in numbers clients ca personnel ca. 580 persons (530 nurses, home aids etc.)
Kotitori – Home care service integrator -innovative home care service integration solution for ageing people since integrates services provided to elderly people living at home, both public and private -information office for elderly people where one can find help from how to get cleaning services to how to apply to sheltered housing -also produces home care in one district (ca. 300 clients) -service is purchased by the city and a new agreement period starts in the fall 2015 (new: e.g. well-being technology rental-shop)

Developing Distance Health Care Services The development aims at providing reliable, combined day centre and health care services to senior citizens to support their socially rich, independent living at home. The services are based on interactive communication means using video and voice. Client specialists are involved in developing the services and testing different devices at the pilot projects
At the moment there are two distance health care solutions in use IkäLinja (SeniorLine) at customers of Geriatrics Polyclinic SmartVisio TV at Service Centres (music, photos, quizs and recordings from different events) A pilot last year at home rehabilitation Pieni piiri (small circle) tablet solution
Development of home rehabilitation Development of lasting procedure of home rehabilitation as part of the geriatrics polyclinic Co-operation over organisations and with the client, next of kin and home care own nurse or family nurse Enhancement or maintenance of physical, psychic and social ability to function with services at home or near home Home visits by physiotherapists, occupational therapists and practical nurses Taking advantage of wellness technology
ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and electric locks in home care Enhancement of work processes, more client visit time Smart phones as tools for ERP and for opening electric locks The nurses have immediate and safe access to up to date information about the client, regardless of their location Entries and logs of the visits and tasks will be done immediately at the client’s home no more double entries Different reminders of home visits no need to carry notebooks, things will get done on time, better communication No need to pick up the keys possible to start and finish the work day at a client’s home
